“Pushed Beyond the Limit”

When I walked into my BBC Class yesterday, I was reminded of the Walking Dead. My students looked like zombies. Apparently, they were weighed down by the pressures of the many projects that need to be completed within the week: Presentations, reports, interviews, and meetings, amongst a host of other tasks that are a pre-requisite to the certificate of completion.
Such is the life of a Business English student.
The Business course is known for being a great challenge to our students. Much time must be spent to meet the demands of the rigorous course. At around 1am last night, there were 4 students who were burning the midnight candles in the study hall. All of them belonged to the business English department.
Of course, the stress and the pressures do not come without rewards. We have never had a student who didn’t feel grateful for the experience. In one way or another, the language immersion and the wealth of communication skills developed within the 4 to 8 weeks of the course have always left the learner with a sense of satisfaction and great accomplishment, having been pushed beyond their limits, maximising their language capabilities.
