-the last in a series of unpleasant events that finally makes you feel that you cannot continue to accept a bad situation
- the final act or insult; the act that finally calls for a response

EXAMPLES:
1.Losing my job was bad enough, but being evicted was THE FINAL STRAW.
2.She’s always been rude to me, but it was THE LAST STRAW when she started insulting my mother.
3.Joe’s boss was always teasing him. But, when his boss started teasing him in front of all his colleagues, that was THE LAST STRAW for Joe and he quit.
