Philinter Debate 2017
Students at Philinter Education Center take on a more serious dare with this year’s Philinter Debate. Held on April 28th, 2017, the activity challenged wits and beliefs while enhancing one’s comfort with the English language.
The contenders, in the 3-part challenge, delivered constructive speeches, underwent interpellation and rebuttals, and presented a closing argument. Native Teacher Mr. Mike and Russian Manager Ms. Sasha sat on the panel of judges. The debaters were judged according to organization, respect for other team, use of cross-examination and rebuttal, presentation style, and use of facts and statistics.
Ultimately, Taiwanese student Sendy, Vietnamese student Alex, and Japanese student T.K. were named best debaters for their outstanding performance in the topics of divorce, death penalty, and same-sex marriage which they respectively covered.
The Debate 2017 was hosted by Teachers Jes and Sam and was peppered with entertaining numbers by students and teachers from sections A, B, C, D and G.
