In my opinion, if you don’t have a strong foundation, studying ESL is more effective than starting IELTS directly. In my classes, the teachers were supportive and helped me build my basic skills step by step. One challenge I faced was feeling upset when my results were not as good as expected. However, I realized that language learning takes time. Sometimes slowing down actually helps you improve faster.
