GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Academic Counseling or Consultation: Counseling sessions are scheduled on the first Monday after arrival at school and subsequently during the 1st, 4th, and 7th weeks. These sessions address class adaptation, academic progress, and any challenges encountered during the student’s stay in the Academy.
  • Class Changes: Class changes are possible only on Tuesdays and Fridays. However, new students can change classes or teachers within the first 2 weeks of arrival.
  • Buddy Teacher Support: If facing issues related to studies or class schedules, kindly consult the Buddy Teacher. Buddy teachers assist with scheduling, class adaptation, exam preparations, and other academic matters.
  • Group Class Duration: Group classes operate in 6 to 8-week units, so it is advisable to consider other subjects before the end of class duration.
  • One-on-One Classes: One-on-one classes are recommended for up to 8 weeks with the same teacher.
  • Textbook and Audio Resources: Refer to the Textbook List for your course to identify required textbooks for the current or next level. Audio files are also available for free.
  • Course Progression: Course changes are permitted as English skills improve. Students may switch to IELTS after reaching level 201+, FOCUS INDUSTRY/TOEFL/CAMBRIDGE from level 301, and ADVANCED BUSINESS from level 301+.
  • SPARTA PROGRAM Requirements: Students in the SPARTA PROGRAM must participate in the after-school evening program and designated tests. In cases of low academic achievement, students may be required to attend mandatory self-study or make-up classes.
  • Free-Talking Policy: Engaging in free-talking without textbooks or handouts is not allowed if aiming for a level above Intermediate.
  • Mobile Phone Use: Use of mobile phones for non-academic purposes during class is prohibited.
  • Dress Code: PHILINTER ACADEMY enforces a DRESS CODE, which requires refraining from wearing clothing that reveals the body's outline.
  • Personal Hygiene: Maintain personal hygiene to prevent sweat, armpit odor, or bad breath. The use of DEODORANT is mandatory.
  • Special Space for Speaking Practice: If a separate space is required for speaking practice, please contact the office. Designated one-on-one classrooms are available from 18:00 to 21:00.

TEST

  • Types of Tests: Various tests are conducted, including the Placement Test, Progress Test, Weekly Test, IELTS/TOEIC/TOEFL Mock Test, and others. Test content may vary based on the course and conditions applied for.
  • Advanced Business Course Requirement: Students enrolled in the Advanced Business course must complete a presentation as a course requirement.
  • Timing of Progress Test: Within two weeks of admission and two weeks before graduation, students will take regular classes instead of taking the Progress Test.
  • Test Result Privacy: Test results are made public, with student ID numbers used instead of student names to protect privacy.

SCHOOL OBLIGATIONS

  • Academic Support Responsibility: PHILINTER ACADEMY is responsible for providing qualified teachers and appropriate class assignments tailored to students' academic needs.
  • Importance of Feedback: PHILINTER should actively seek and consider feedback from students to enhance the quality of education.
  • Scheduling of Make-Up Classes: Make-up classes should be scheduled reasonably to accommodate students effectively.
  • Monthly Class Guarantee: REGULAR CLASSES ARE GUARANTEED for 19 days each month, except in December.

STUDENT OBLIGATIONS

  • Attendance Monitoring: Student attendance is monitored daily. Absent students should complete an absent form at the Operations Office for excused absences. Active participation in attendance and testing is essential for students.
  • Prohibited Conduct: Engaging in business and financial transactions or offers with teachers, making sexual jokes, or any form of physical contact (even light contact) is strictly prohibited for students.
  • Familiarize with School Rules: Students should familiarize with the school rules and penalties outlined in THE ORIENTATION FILE.

 

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

  • Respect the personal space of your roommate and refrain from touching their belongings.
  • Maintain quiet hours from 22:00 onwards. Please make cell phone calls outside of the room.
  • Cleaning service is provided twice a week, and requests for bed sheet change are every two weeks.
  • Laundry is scheduled twice a week.
  • Keep valuables and cash in a secure drawer or inside luggage. If there are concerns, valuables can be stored at the school office.
  • Avoid flushing toilet paper, wet tissues, or food down the toilet to avoid clogging.
  • If any inconveniences occur, please reach out via LINE or contact the office. Issues will be addressed within 24 hours. Office hours: 8 AM to 17:00, Monday to Friday.
  • In case of a medical emergency, contact the manager or security guard anytime.
  • Extend a warm welcome to new students and provide them with space (cabinet, desk, bed) to use.
  • Cooking utensils such as coffee pots and burners are not allowed in the building.
  • The dormitory is strictly for students; even family members and non-students require prior approval for entry.

COMPLIANCE:

  • The dormitory regulations are clearly outlined in the orientation file. Consequences for violations vary, thus careful reading is advised.
  • Curfew: Monday to Thursday is 22:00, while Friday, Saturday, and the day before holidays is 24:00.
  • Bringing or drinking alcoholic beverages on campus is prohibited and may result in expulsion after a single violation.
  • Entering a room of an opposite gender will result in immediate expulsion.

 SWIMMING POOL:

  • Activities such as jumping, running, or playing are not permitted in the swimming pool area.
  • Avoid any unsafe behavior, including running and jumping, in and around the pool.
  • Using the pool after drinking alcohol is prohibited.
  • Wear appropriate swimwear when using the pool.
  • Avoid gathering near the pool area after 22:00.
  • Junior students must have a guardian present when using the pool.
  • After using the pool, dry with a towel before entering the dormitory building. Cooperation is appreciated to prevent accidents caused by wet surfaces.
  • Pool closure for maintenance will be communicated through posted notices.

CHECK-OUT AND GRADUATION:

  • Check-out time on Saturdays is 13:00. Please adhere to this schedule as the room needs cleaning for the next check-in student.
  • If a 1-2 days extension is required due to flight schedules or other reasons, discuss with the manager in advance.
  • Verify the validity of the VISA EXTENSION RECEIPT until the departure date.
  • Avoid packing laptop batteries and cell phone chargers in your luggage, as some airlines impose strict regulations, potentially affecting your travel plans.
  • If a taxi service to the airport is needed, our security personnel can assist you in arranging one. Please inform the taxi driver whether you are departing from the 'domestic terminal' or the 'international terminal.'
  • If a student’s total stay in the Philippines exceeds 6 months, obtaining an ECC from the Immigration Office is mandatory.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • There is no curfew for the off-campus dormitory, and cooking is allowed in the rooms.
  • Attendance for all classes and tests is mandatory and will be strictly enforced.
  • Cleaning service is scheduled twice a week, with bed sheet changes accommodated every two weeks upon request.

  • For laundry, you can utilize the washing machine provided in your room or opt for the on-campus laundry service.
  • In the event of losing valuables or cash in your room, resolution may be challenging due to potential disputes with the building owner. To ensure safety, kindly keep your valuables/cash at the school office or with you.
  • Should any inconvenience arise, please contact us via LINE or the office. We are committed to resolving issues within 24 hours. OFFICE HOURS: 8 AM TO 17:00, MON-FRI.

  • VISITORS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ENTER YOUR ROOM. However, families are an exception.

SHUTTLE SERVICE

  • Shuttle services might vary based on the number of residents in the off-campus dormitory. Should the shuttle service inconvenience your commute, you can approach us for any suggestions to improve service.

SWIMMING POOL

  • Avoid activities such as running, jumping, or engaging in any unsafe behavior around the pool.
  • Use of the pool after drinking alcohol is prohibited.
  • A guardian's presence is mandatory for juniors using the pool.

WHAT TEXTBOOKS DO PHILINTER USE?

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHOOSE 2 COURSES?

Absolutely! You have the option to choose multiple courses, including 2 or 3 courses.

However, we recommend consulting with us to determine the recommended order of courses and the ideal duration of study based on your individual needs.

HOW FAST CAN I IMPROVE MY SCORE IF I ENROLL IN THE TOEIC COURSE?

The rate at which you can improve your TOEIC score varies depending on your current level of English proficiency. Here’s an estimate of score improvement based on different starting levels:

  • If your English level is below 450 in TOEIC, you can anticipate an improvement of approximately 150-200 points per 4 weeks.
  • If your English level is below 600 in TOEIC, you can expect to improve your score by 100 to 150 points per 4 weeks.
  • For those with a score of 750 points and above, the rate of score improvement may be reduced.

On average, beginners or those with English proficiency below 450 can achieve a TOEIC score of 850 within approximately 12 weeks of dedicated study and practice.

HOW LONG IS THE STUDY PERIOD FROM IELTS 5.5 TO IELTS 7.0?

The study period to improve from IELTS 5.5 to IELTS 7.0 typically takes around 24 weeks when taking the IELTS Intensive course.
Here is the breakdown:

  • First 12 weeks to improve from 5.5 to 6.5
  • Then even another 12 weeks to improve from 6.5 to 7.0.

However, if you opt to choose the IELTS Score Guarantee, the total study duration can be reduced to 16 – 20 weeks.
